flyswatta Wrote:Uh, they are. At least as far as GBPVR are concerned. That's the beauty of using I-XMLTV. If you use "record all episodes on this channel" for an asterisked (new) program, then it will only record the new episodes - if it's re-run several times that week it won't record the reruns. It also will record the episode if it moves timeslots and/or days.

In your example, it will record Lost* (new episode) anytime that it shows up, but it won't record Lost (rerun).

You should delete all pending recordings for Lost and set up recurring recordings for Lost*.

Learning slowly. I have looked at a number of different utilities and plugins including I-XMLTV, XMLTV, XMLTV_Extras, TV Listings, and UltraXMLTV and I seem to be getting more confused than ever.

What are the differences / benefits to running I-XMLTV versus XMLTV and UltraXMLTV? I assume that XMLTV_Extras can be run in combination with either of these?

I'm not sure with ULTRAXMLTV. I just wanted to be able to record only new shows - and started using I-xmltv a long time ago. IIRC, I-xmltv just brings down more information about the shows, modifies the new recordings with the * and displays more info in the GBPVR tv guide/EWA.

I haven't heard of UltraXMLTV before, so I'm guessing it's relatively new.

I-XMLTV and UltraXMLTV both take a downloaded file, XMLTV file, loaded with all sorts of good stuff (extra information usually discarded by GB-PVR) and reformats the information to be viewable in the TV Guide. 'New Show Indication' is one part of that extra stuff, and both enhancers can give you that asterix * on a new show.

The other enhancers do the same sort of thing but are used mostly for enhancing data for use with EWA (Enhanced Web Access) control of GB-PVR.

I have tried to keep all the features that are in I-XMLTV available in UltraXMLTV, but I have added a few more features; it's in active development; and I can add new features if requested...

And I have made sure that XMLTVExtras works with UltraXMLTV.
