Hello All,

I understand that in order to get Rogers Digital Cable channels working on my computer I need both a tuner card and a rogers digital cable box and to change channels I would likely use the digital cable remote NOT the tv tuner remote.

Will GBPVR work with the digital cable box? i.e. will I be able to make use of its interface or will I be solely reliant on the digital cable box's interface. If I'm using the digital cable remote/interface etc. is a tv-tuner still the best way to go or is there a better option?

Thanks!

I have Rogers Digital Cable and a PVR150 and HVR1600. If you hook the outside cable to the set box to the computer to the monitor (tv or computer monitor), you will be able to get the "digital stations" in analog on the computer. You will need to use both the ir receiver to send messages to the computer with the remote and the ir blaster to allow the computer to send messages to the set box. If you use the S-video cable to connect the set box to the computer, you will also need to connect audio cables. I couldn't find any extra audio connectors on the back of the set box and I had trouble getting the ir blaster to change the channel on the set box. But then, I am new to the maintence side of computers so you might not have any problem.

To get real digital from the cable using the hvr1600, you need to connect the computer directly to the outside cable and will only receive clear QAM stations (i.e. not the extra channels included in the digital package that are encrypted and need a set box to decode them)
