Hi,

I use GB-PVR via MediaMVP. Right now my MediaMVP is turned off, yet the server PC's Windows Task Manager shows:

GBPVR.EXE: 117MB RAM
PVRX2.EXE:113MB RAM

Why do I have both running?

Why do they eat so much memory?

Thanks,

marcio

Yeah this can be about right. .Net is pretty memory hungry. That is also a the peak memory usage, and may not represent how much is actually being used. The way .net memory management works, and memory freed by the application is not returned to the operating system unless the operating system says its running low.

I'm guessing you have one running on your desktop, the other is running as an MVP server in the background waiting for a connection from an MVP.

No, I don't have one running on my desktop. I very very rarely launch the desktop version. PVRX2 does not even run, complains about the Video Renderer - none of the 3 are supported in my cheapo integrated video card on this emachines PC.

I guess I will kill both and see if they revive...

Yup, PVRX2.EXE revived. GBPVR.EXE did not.

That is quite odd, considering that I can run GBPVR.EXE on the desktop but not PVRX2.EXE, and yet it is PVRX2.EXE that runs on the background? Mistery to me :-)

If you're killing PVRX2.exe and its restarting, then it is because you've got 'auto start MVP servers' set to '1' in the config app. This means there will always be one running in the background ready to handle requests from the MVP.
