Hi,

I have noticed that since the 1.2.9 upgrade, my configs first line is:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

The first 3 characters (EFh BBh BFh) were deleted with an editor but every time I run the config app or change settings in the PVR2 UI, it puts them back!!

Is this correct?

We've never had another occurrance of this in my memory, so I'd surprised if this is occurring without any tinkering by yourself. Are you sure you havnt edited "config-master.dont-edit-me.xml"?

Alternative, it might be caused by a plugin.

Sub,

I am pretty sure I have not edited the master file but it has this rubbish in too.

Looking at my complete backup before the U/G, the master had it but the config.xml did not.

I will remove it from the master and see if it stays away.

Thanks for the pointer.

This is weird, I removed it from the master, saved it, removed it from the config.xml and saved that too.

Whenever I save from config, it still puts it back in the config.xml but leaves the master as it should be.

Time to kill some plugins.

I've seen the same thing for a long time and a backup from last Aug. has this. I just thought it was a utf-8 thing.

OK, all plugins gone and I see the same thing. However, if you open in notepad you don't see them, only with UltraEdit.

As mvallevand has it too and due to the above, I will just ignore it.Smile

Thanks for the support.

If they're not causing any problems, then you can probably safely ignore them. I'm guessing martin is right an they just identify the character set as UTF-8.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byte-order_mark "Quite a lot of Windows software (including Windows Notepad) adds one to UTF-8 files. "

Thanks,

Reading that puts my mind at rest. Odd that this did not happen pre 1.2.9.
