Have recently set up a GBPVR system with my 32" Philips LCD. Everything fine hardware-wise until I got round to connecting the IR receiver and using the Hauppauge 45-button remote. Basically, the thing interferes with my TV - the green LED on the set that blinks when its own remote is pressed, does so when any key is pressed on the hauppauge remote, and this can make it difficult for the computer's IR receiver to pick up the signal. Equally annoying, it works both ways - when I use the TV remote to put the set onto standby, it opens the Net Radio App in GBPVR!

Anything I can do about this, or am I stuck? Can't think of a solution of any sort at the moment!

Cheers

I get this too- the Hauppauge sensor picks up my JVC TV remote and wreaks havock in GBPVR- I get all sorts of random recordings if I'm not careful!

Here's an idea (though, not necessarily a good one):

I just started using IR Server for my MCE Remote. It takes the signal it receives from my MCE Remote, and turns it into commands that GBPVR can understand. If you have a Hauppauge remote, you don't have to worry about this because this functionality is practically built into GBPVR.

However, I noticed that IR Server has a setting for and appears to work with a Hauppauge remote. If this is the case, then you can run IR Server to interperet the commands it will receive from your remote. Where's the advantage? Well, you should be able to have IR Server accept signals for any remote: you wouldn't have to use the Hauppauge remote which interferes (or is interferred with) with your TV remote. You could use any remote control (or, say, a cheap universal remote set to some random codes) to control GBPVR.

IR Server is just a program that you can find on the GBPVR wiki to interperet your remotes codes (besides letting GBPVR do it alone). Theoretically, any remote software should work (like HIP, girder, or eventghost), but I only mentioned IR Server because it seemed incredibly easy to use and looks like it had the Hauppauge function built in.

I've never tried this myself, but if IR Server does what I think it will do for Hauppauge remotes, the process should be straight forward. All you have to do is run IR Server, program it for a different remote, and then tell GBPVR not to use the Hauppauge remote anymore.
