Wondering if I pickup a good tv tuner for my pc and attempt to use this, is it possible that I will experience an improvement with QAM? Currently QAM channels never stay tuned in for very long, and most of the time they simply FFWD/RWD then go away. Maybe I have poor signal strength in this room.

Just wondering if those who have switched from std cable setup to a gbpvr experienced any improvements, specifically with QAM?

Is the FF/REW happening on your cable box? If so, do you have a DVR cable box?

If it's happening on your cable box and it's not due to DVR functions you are using, then it's going to happen on a QAM tuner as well.

Is it happening on all channels? I suspect that it is only on OnDemand channels. This will happen no matter what QAM tuner you use. When someone in your neighborhood orders and views an OnDemand program, it is sent to the neighborhood in clear QAM and can be picked up by neighbors with a QAM tuner in their TV or in their PC. The downfall is that you are at the mercy of the person who ordered the program. If they pause, FF, Rew or stop the program, the clear QAM signal acts accordingly. Once the viewing is stopped, that clear QAM channel disappears until the next person orders a movie or program.

The best you can realistically expect from clear QAM is you locals.
