hi,
I have a widescreen tv using PVR-350 tv out.
I access my sky tv via the PVR-350 tuner. Sky is set to output widescreen signals.
Is there a way to tell GBPVR that the input is widescreen and to display the output in widescreen?
even better, can GBPVR work out that some channels are 4:3 and some are 16:9, and auto swtich, much like my tv does when I feed it from the digibox via a scart.
I'm confused as no one on the forums seems to say anything about widescreen problems, so maybe I just haven't seen a menu somewhere.
But I cant get GBPVR to output in widescreen; it always assumes its a 4:3 tv.
thanks

no currently gbpvr only supports 4:3 ratios. but if a 16:9 signal is sent into it, it thinks of it as a 4:3, so if you just put your widescreen tv on 16:9 ratio all is fine, its stretched the right way. just when you record it will be recorded as a 4:3 mpeg file. also menus etc only handle 4:3 ratios.

i am sure, most things skins etc are 720x480 (some are 720x576) which are 4:3 ratio. 16:9 isnt available yet, however if you have a widescreen video file (without black bars) it will be stretched to cover the entire screen, so if viewing on a widescreen tv, you dont get the black bars, which is nice.
it maybe able to do the same on widescreen dvds, ive never tried this myself.

thats for all the answers.
a related question; if the tv signal has line 23 widescreen switching (WSS), does this get recorded by GBPVR? There is a box from http://www.amcro.co.uk for £120 which will take pin 9 switching and add it into the tv signal. But I'm unsure if this would work once its passed through GBPVR
thanks

I'll answer my own question then [Image: smile.gif]
I played with different signals last night.
seems the output of gbpvr is only designed for a 4:3 tv.
the software does look at line 23 (WSS). If its a widescreen transmission, it puts black bars top and bottom.
but if I feed in widesceen from Sky which only has scart widesceen switching, I get a squashed 4:3 signal in GBPVR.
But GBPVR does not output line 23.

So I guess I should add to the wishlist forum support for 16:9 TVs. Ideally the output should keep line 13 WSS but maybe that can't be done with PV TV-out cards.
