select the hvr1800

epg name on left channel number the tuning assitant on the right

It never asks me to do anything with numbers with I hit update EPG. It automatically updates it when using the Configuration Utility (of course, GBPVR still tells me that I have to update the EPG).

in config when you edit the tuner
after updating the epg you should get your channels names on the left

and on the right there will be numbers starting at 1,2,3 etc
this is where you need to put the numbers the tuning assistant found

Are you talking about the "Source Channel" field? That's just the channel number, isn't it? It already looks fine/matches up with the Tuning Assistant. I'm talking about the frequency number.

I'm still getting that object reference error. It sucks that I can look at channels perfectly when running the Tunning Assistant (though the screen is really small and there's no sound), but can't view anything when I run the actual GBPVR.

i think your card is actually missing the hardware mpeg encoder (need sub to look at this for you i may be wrong)

on misc tab do you have it set to encoder pass through or live tv preview

couple more things you could try
make sure you have your folders set to folders that actually exist
as in you live tv buffer folder an d your recording directory ( set to temp folder but there is no temp folder maybe)

It looks like Live Preview Mode was enabled. I disabled it and now I don't get that error, but now when I go to Live TV the screen turns black and then quickly goes back to the Main Menu. It looks like an error box or message box might be displayed, but it appears so briefly that I can't make it out (it seems like by the time it appears it automatically goes away and I'm back at the menu).

What should I set for Hardware Decoder device? Options are the following:
None - use software decoder
Hauppauge PVR350
Sigma Designs XCard

EDIT: Sometimes it says No Tuners Are Available to watch the requested channel when I go to watch the live TV. In these instances the light on my Tuner is on, usually indicating that it is tuning something or working. Sometimes this doesn't happen at all and the light isn't on (in which case the above happens where it briefly goes to the black screen). Other times it just says that it can't open the file when I go to Live TV. I attached some logs.

Looking your filtercheck.log I'm pretty sure you dont have an HVR1800. This expresscard PCMCIA device seems similar, and uses the same drivers, but doesnt have the hardware MPEG2 encoder, so isnt compatible with GB-PVR as an analog device. Sorry.
