Are WDM Drivers Required?

Hello all,

I am preparing to install GB-PVR and use it with an ATI 550 PRO PCI TV Tuner card. Now, ATI states that a WDM Driver is required for all of their TV Tuners cards (and they show a WDM download link for the 550 PRO). So, is this WDM Driver only neccessary for ATI's software or is it required for GB-PVR as well?

GB-PVR uses the ATI WDM driver when using this device.
