for those of you who don't exactly like the idea of using simple file sharing/the guest account (and/or couldn't get the damn thing to work that way!) here are the scripts I used for the PCH share.

telent.htm:
Code:
<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/[SMB]%20[B]user@[/B]alucard:mvpmc/script.cgi">Telnetd</a>
<BR>
<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/[SMB]%20[B]user@[/B]alucard:mvpmc/gbpvr.cgi">GB-PVR</a>

script.cgi:
Code:
mount -t cifs //192.168.1.4/mvpmc /etc/mvpmc/ -o username=user[B],password=pass[/B],rw;

hope it helps someone

also, for those that dont like to strain when trying to select things you can wrap the links in:
Code:
<font size=#>
</font>
replace # with your desired font size (7 is pretty big)

(mvpmc will still need a guest)

what do you mean by mvpmc will still need a guest? I only have a NMT and everything seems to work fine how I have it now. is that just for people with MVPs?

It's just a small warning for people with a mixed PCH/mvpmc system that they will still need a guest share so this doesn't have any real value to them.

I think you are pointing me in the right direction. I have Server 2003 and intentionally leave the guest account disabled. I am waiting for my PCH to arrive and started setting things up on the server side (as much as I can). I know that I will be leaving the share open to everyone. I guess I still need a username/password to be able to gain access. I will probably create a username "PCH" and a password. I am guessing that I can modify telnet.htm and script.cgi to reflect my username and password.

If the only reason you want to use a username is to avoid the guest account the default username and password used by the PCH is nmt and 1234

Unfortunately, my network requires a strong password so the default on the PCH won't work. Are these the steps that I need to follow?

1. Create a share for the MVPMC directory on the server.
2. Create a username and password for my network to use with the PCH.
3. Give the username access to the \\ServerName\MVPMC share
4. Edit telnet.htm and script.cgi to reflect the username and password created to match the first post in this thread.

yep, that sounds about right, you will also have to map the share on your PCH, using the same username and password.

let me know if you have any problems

A couple of quick questions. In the code, is "alucard" your domain/workgroup name? Is there any was to test this before my PCH arrives (another PC)?

Code:
<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/[SMB]%20user@alucard:mvpmc/script.cgi">Telnetd</a>
<BR>
<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/[SMB]%20user@alucard:mvpmc/gbpvr.cgi">GB-PVR</a>script.cgi:
