You haven't updated your config.xml to add the required section for <MAC-0006DC421C5E> needed for a PCH. GBPVR thinks you are an MVP which doesn't need a screen update. Adding this should fix this problem.

Because you also don't have the screen saver turn on you won't get a screen update but if you hit the right arrow key after playing you could force one.

Oh bugger - sorry about that. I have a section in config.xml but I took that as a sample and put in an entry with what looked like the real MAC address.....

I'll try it shortly - slight panic here at the moment as the gas boiler has just packed in (35 years old) so it looks like it may be major expense shortly - up to my elbows in plumbing.

thanks again.

OK Martin, I've added that section to config and turned on the screensaver but the problem is the same - blank screen after playing a recording. The only keys that seem to work when it in this state is Return and Home on the PCH remote. Playing live TV behaves normally with the stop key action.

Sorry to take up your time, new logs logs attached.

18:10:?? startup gbpvr
18:11:20 pressed play
18:12:00 pressed stop
18:13:00 presses return
18:13:00 pressed power to exit

Damn forgot logs.....

To my amazement, I've fixed my boiler with a new thermocouple, so my mood is happy again.Smile

You didn't include the logs that failed, but no matter your (thanks for adding it) config.xml setting isn't right for your MAC address. In <MAC-0006DC421C5E> you don't have <MVPClientType>PCH</MVPClientType>

I have no idea what <MAC-411000211636> would be

I'm glad you found a reasonable solution and aren't "steaming" now.

My vast apologies Martin - I'd cut and pasted into the correct MAC section, but cut from the real MVP rather than the PCH one with the wrong MAC address.

I behaved like an idiot - that wrong MAC address was from the sticker on the underside of the PCH. I'm so used to networking devices having their MAC addresses stuck on like that, that I'd made the wrong assumptions.

The current setup is not conducive to sorting things out either. To save running up and down stairs, I have the PCH sat on the bench in the shack and it's composite output is going into my PVR150 so I can see on the server PC what is being output, a bit of a delay, but it works, although must remember not to "watch" the composite input on the PCH

Thanks again for your time and patience. I'll try to keep a low profile now.

Is there an obvious section in the logs that I can look at that would confirm that pvrx2 is reading the right mvp section of config.xml ?

In verbose mode on the mvp logs you should see

Code:
2008-xx-xx xx:xx:xx.xxx    VERBOSE    [6]    getValue: /settings/MVPSpecificSettings/MAC-0006DC4217CD/MVPClientType : PCH
2008-xx-xx xx:xx:xx.xxx    VERBOSE    [6]    Client type is PCH. Raising limits to a maximum of 1920x1080.

Thanks for that, I'll use it as my test.
