Sorry if this was already discussed somewhere, but I was talking to Zed about dual tuner cards in another thread and he suggested the PVR-1600 was the way to go for me. He pointed me to an older thread that suggested the PVR-1600 could record analog AND digital at the same time.

Am I correct in understand, then, that the following setup will work

Plain Old Antenna
| |
+---------=| <-Digital Tuner (after the digital conversion of course)
|
+---------=| <-Analog Tuner
| |
Cable Box

And GBPVR will be able to tune the analog tuner based on the blaster to the cable box and the digital tuner interally so that I could record a cable channel and a show off of the antenna at the same time?

Yep, that should work. On mine, I actually split the cable feed prior to the cable box since I get QAM on the cable line (comcast). My setup looks like this:
Code:
[FONT=Courier New]cable  +-QAM--------|Digital QAM on 1600[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier New]-------+[/FONT]
[FONT=Courier New]       +--CableBox--|Analog on 1600 (w/IRBlaster on cablebox)[/FONT]

This is my setup as well.

If you connect the cable straight to the analog in, and the cable box into the s-video port, and the cable/antenna to the digital port, you could have three things coming in at once Big Grin

Plain old antenna will pick up ATSC broadcast channels now. Digital conversion (Feb 2009) is when the analog broadcast stops.
What, me worry?

Andy-

Couple questions.

When configuring each input on HVR-1600, do you use the same device number, or, successive numbers. dev 1, dev 1, dev 1 or dev 1, dev 2, dev 3?

Config cable box S-video input as analog input?

With the cable box input to S-video, will you display/record channel 3? Control the channel with the box, or, with GBPVR?

If my cat would stop trying to answer your question, I'll try to do it...

The Svideo is an analog input. Create a new source called whatever (mine is AV input), recording source is analog recording plugin, epg is whatever, channel changer: set this up if you want ot change STB channels with GBPVR.

Recording source settings: capture card type is hauppauge HVR1600 analog, and source is either the svid or composite external tuner. Unless you're using the optional breakout cable with the AV inputs ont he bracket that attatches to the white header ont he card. Then you use svid2 or commposite2.

Ok on that and you'll be back to the ain screen. If you're not using an epg or external tuner, then make sure you set a channel up for your AV input. any channel you want. when you change to that channel, there it will be.

This will put you where you want to be. Then you'll have access to all three.
