Just out of interest - try setting the Logon credentials for the service to the username/password of the main user account on your machine instead of the default LocalSystem account.

Thanks for the suggestion bgowland, this was one of the things i tried when troubleshooting earlier but no luck, right now i just created a bat file with net start "GB-PVR Recording Service" and placed a shortcut in my startup folder and it has been starting on reboot for me

OK - I thought it was worth a try. I used to be a net sysadmin and we had one service on one server which would never start as LocalSystem but would as a local Administrator account. It was fine on other machines as LocalSystem though. Just one of lifes little oddities. Glad you got a workaround anyway.
