I can't believe that I'm alone on this one.

I came home from work to find that Windows had installed an important security update, and now PVRX2.exe and config both generate an error message without starting either ap. The details of the message refer to system.xml.xmlexception.

I've tried rolling back to a previous restore point, but it didn't change anything. Base on another post, I searched for any .net updates, and while I was at it, installed XP SP3. No joy.

Is anyone aware of any security updates that affect system.xml, and more to the point, how to fix it?

That why I disabled EVERY update on the GB-PVR machines. No firewall also, or AV. It's not that risky if you inside a well managed and well hardware-firewalled network.

I'm away from the machine, so I'll post the exact message later. Thanks.

Sub, while searching for the data to help you diagnose this, I found that my config.xml file had a size of 0 KB. I replaced it with a backup and now all is well.

The thought of being without GB-PVR and my media centre has reinforced my appreciation for your work. Thank you.
