ffdshow is the only codec I have installed (aside from whatever VLC uses) & I can play DVD's & HDPVR recordings fine using WMP, but when I seem to be unable to configure GBPVR to use it for either.

Under the DVD tab of the config app, the only option I have is "system default" for video (I can select ffdshow for audio).

Under the Playback tab, I can select ffdshow for H.264 playback, but only "system default" for AAC & HE-AAC, even thow I've enabled both in the ffdshow audio decoder setup.

If I try to playback HDPVR recordings, I just get a blank screen & PVRX2 hangs. When I play them back in WMP, they play fine & I see the ffdshow audio & video icons pop up in the tray.

This wasn't really an issue before because I used to watch everything via PCH, but now that I've cleaned up my office (and put together a better rig), I'd like to watch shows there as well. Would installing the Arcsoft decoder make things work better in gbpvr?

DVD's aren't a huge issue since I usually watch them in VLC anyway.

Have you gone into the ffdshow configuration and added PVRX2.exe to the list of applications? The default install is only configured for a pile of common apps (like Windows Media Player etc).

During install, I told it to run with everything. It works fine when I play mpg files & ts files from the HDHomeRun (I even see the ffdshow tray icons pop up), just not the H.264/AAC TS files from the HDPVR...

Thanks anyway - I just wasn't sure if there was something I could add to config.xml to get it to show up in the drop down menus for those particular formats...

I have no idea whether it'll help you or not, but to get it to appear in the dropdown lists, you can add the filtername to the <SupportedAACAudioDecoders> setting in config.xml.

philly,

1. Make sure in ffdshow that you have configured (for DVD Playback) the MPEG2 line and selected a decoder. I suggest libmpeg2. Then make sure to check the DVD decoding box.

2. Setup PVRX2 to use the system default MPEG2 decoder.

If you provide the pvrx2.exe-natvie.log file after attempting to play the file it will show us what decoder was selected, if any.

In WMP it uses ffdshow for DVD playback?
Have you tried to get it to work in another Directshow based player? I suggest Media Player Classic-Home Cinema(MPC-HC) Just be sure to uncheck all of the Internal Filters to be sure it is using the system filter merit (priority). If MPC-HC plays the file correctly, and there are no selected Internal Filters, then System Default in GBPVR should work too.
