limited to 10 so couldn;t do all - maybe a follow up poll necessary Wink

yes, to allow more choices, i put cyberlink/powerdvd together

pBS Wrote:might also wanna mention OS, as many don't work same in vista [if at all]

an O/S poll may be next now i am a master of vbulletin polls (and a novice on codecs/windows/gbpvr/computers!)

yep - i though might be interesting and also if anyone stumbles on it, they could use the popular choices when sorting out GBPVR..maybe...

another poll - how do you get your codecs Big Grin

and that makes a difference instead of simply installing it and selecting it in GBPVR config?

yes your cpu usage will drop and the icon will show in the task bar
it makes sure hardware accel works
even with registry tweaks it was the only way i found to get it working

yes, i did get the NVIDIA icon, but when using VMR9 was ghosting a bit and EVR was not smooth at all (i assume doesn't cater for it).

purevideo codec is old too right? when was latest one released?

yes, using vista and tried VMR9 with nvidia didn't work too well (ati x1650)

EVR fared better and when using aero, don't get tearing (cyberlink decoder)

garymeds Wrote:powerdvd8 has given my vista gbpvr machine flawless mpg2 decoding with evr renderer (with analogue and DVB-T sources). previous decoders were either ghosting or blurred with fast movement.

now don't ask me why  but since last week installing powerdvd and using the cyberlink decoder which was crystal clear for about a week, the ghosting has returned so i've reverted back to purevideo decoder! can't change vote though...

not sure what's changed - i aint done anything. had black screen from a wake (although could ping and vnc woke it up) so i've a feeling it's vista related. i might *gulp* rebuild...

i would check merit first, it often gets reset...
and also check the lastgraph.grf to see what decoder was actually being used...
[would show if merit problem or not]

thanks for tip, pBS. i do have a few decoders on the pc and selecting them in PVRX2 does make difference (some bad, some ok - none as perfect as the cyberlink one was...)

EDIT: just uninstalled real VNC (bit of a long shot) but this has fixed my issue, bizarrely enough! mpg2 playback now back to normal. so the week long (or so) playback after installing was prob ruined the first time i connected with VNC (actually was mentioned above as i had black screen on wake - think power saving was enabled on PCI express slot). phew Smile

btw. real VNC installed in user mode on vista - will look for alternate remote control prog now!
