The old versions have been fine for me, but you could also try this new version that is pretty good: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=36322

Just noticed that even though the fta channel recording works.. when I stop it, its still recording in the background and I cannot switch channels. Exiting gbpvr does not stop it. I have to stop and start recording service.

Reproduce the problem and post the logs and I'll take a look.

If you disable out of process recording, does the problem go away?

On the misc2 tab, near top left, open 'Record out-of-process'.
