Lenor - ffdshow for everything? When you install it, do you make any special selections? The MediaPortal guys say with ffdshow you can pretty much watch anything, how true is that?

it works fine for everything i use it, which means audio and video SD on Satelite, on both windows server 2003 and winXP. i don't have any experience with HD Content...
gundar, you can select anything lateron from within settings, both audio and video, and you'll have to at least for mpeg2 coding, as it's turned off at start up as i remember. when ever your system makes use of ffdshow (audio and / or video) you should then have an icon (red one - video, blue one - audio) in tray.

This server blue screens everytime I load the drivers for the capture device or around that time. So, if I get to the point the capture device is being setup, either immediately, bdasup.sys gives the server the BSOD or the server never quite reboots.
I have reloaded this now so many times, I am going to call it as a bad idea. Sorry, I'll have to go back to Windows XP, I have run out of time (and patience). Just to clarify though, this is at the stage before I even load GBPVR, so you may get further than me if your capture device is not the same as mine (NOVA-T-500). Over and out.

Just in case anyone ever happens across this post.
I've been running GBPVR off my Windows 2003 server ever since Version 99.12. It works, Sometimes it's really slow. This isn't a slow machine by any means. Dual core 3.0 Ghz(so yeah, maybe a little slow now... but 3 years ago it wasn't bad) The drives are a RAID5 array off an old HP Netraid card. I've got about 300 GB of Raid storage space and another Terabyte of external storage. 2 GB of ram. Now I'm not sure if it's entirely GBPVR's fault because I also run alot of other apps and file sharing off this server.(FTP, Enterprise Antivirus, my wife's financial DB's, Network Security Camera's, Home Alarm and H-VAC Controls) but it's REALLY slow when I run the PVRX2 client. I remember for a couple of versions I couldn't run the X2 client at all and had to run the old PVR client. A couple upgrades fixed that issue though. The server was also completely compatible with the Haupauge cards. I've got 4 cards installed currently. Two of the older Win-TV H150 cards that only have analog tuners, and two of the newer Win-TV H1600 cards with a digital and an analog tuner. The Haupauge drivers worked correctly right out of the box. I did install the latest versions but they also worked. I finally ended up noticing I was having the database problem where the GBPVR.DB3 file size would grow huge, mine only got to 4gb. After I cleaned the database up with SQLiteSpy(Thanks Sub for the solution) everything ran smoother. GBPVR opens right up. Now I just need to figure out how to clear out the stored video history and just keep the recordings lineup and I can clean it up even more. I simply DL the shows I want to watch so I can take them into work and watch them there when I'm bored. GBPVR is still pretty slow on the server and I can't watch video through it. And Live TV is still extremely slow and skippy on Server 2003. Not sure why, I can't really watch TV through GBPVR, I have to use the Win-TV program that came with the capture cards. It's pretty smooth.

Might be worth a look: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...ostcount=4
