Strange problem. When I play an MP3 or AVI through GBPVR (latest version), it only plays at around 50-75% of the volume that it should. If I open lastgraph.grf and play it via GraphEdit, or play it in Mediaplayer, then it plays at the correct volume.

I'm using an onboard Realtek HD audio device, using SPDIF output via coax to my home theatre receiver. The only volume slider in the Realtek mixer that makes a difference to SPDIF output is the WAV slider, and that is set to maximum whether I play through GBPVR or another player.

The Graph for MP3s is File -> MPEG1 Splitter -> FFDShow Audio Decoder -> Default Directsound Renderer. The sound path of the Graph for AVIs is File -> AVI Splitter -> FFDShow Audio Decoder -> Default Directsound Renderer.

FFDShow Audio Decoder is set to resample at 48K if the input is below 48K (as the theatre amp needs a 48K PCM signal), Mixer and Volume are both disabled so there isn't any normalisation happening or anything.

Also, even if there were, it wouldn't explain whay playing in GBPVR gives a different result from playing the same graph in Graphedit (if I play them both at the same time, GBPVR is noticeably quieter).

I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

Thanks

Did you add gbpvr to the "allowed" applications in ffdshow (something like that)? Maybe GBPVR isn't using FFdshow at all.

If you delete the following registry key, does it help?

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Devnz\LastVolume

HtV - I'm pretty sure FFDShow is being used in both cases. I don't limit the applications in FFDShow; the GBPVR logs and the lastgraph.grf in the GBPVR directory both show that the graph is constructed using FFDShow;it shows in the system tray while the file is playing, and changing FFDShow settings "in flight" changes the playback immediately.

Sub - thanks, I will try that tonight and post back.

Thanks for the responses. You guys are so helpful :-)

Impatient me - couldn't wait till tonight, so tried it before I went to work. Thanks Sub, deleting the registry key worked a treat. Volume back to normal now.
