I recently opened one of my recorded mpg's in VLC media player and was amazed at how better the picture was. In gbpvr everything looks washed out and sort of blurred, in vlc the picture is sharper and colors are much more vibrant. I can't seem to make the vids in gbpvr look anywhere near as good as they do in vlc player.

So far, this is what I've tried:

1. Changed vmr settings
2. Tried each of my available video decoders
3. Updated graphics card drivers
4. Defragged the system
5. Smashed head against wall

And after all that, I'm left with the same picture I started out with. Can someone help me out with this? I'm about ready to throw in the towel.

BTW I only watch gbpvr on my computer monitor, there is no tv attached.

Thanks

VLC uses its own codecs. You won't likely be able to make it look the same using the directshow codecs as used by gbpvr.

I guess you could just use vlc to play the files.

The things that effect the video quality are video decoder and video renderer.

VLC uses the Overlay video renderer by default, so try that first, otherwise what video decoders have you tried exactly?

Yes, I tried overlay manager.

For decoder I tried system default which DECCHECK lists as Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PCM4) and also tried MPV Decoder filter, ffdshow Video Decoder, & MPEG Video Decoder.

It'll be related to the video decoder and/or video renders, so try different combinations of these. Install additional decoders if you need to. Sorry, I know thats not super specific, but it will be related to those. There doesnt seem to be a one-size-fits-all recommended decoder and video recommend, since they seem to perform quite differently on different machines (due to different video cards, operating systems, versions of video card drivers etc...).
