Hey there. Two things:
where can I find some good codecs downloadable for free? how to i integrate them into GBPVR so that they are available on the 'playback' popup menu. thanks AC

download ace mega codecs package <best one around>

Use libavcodec with ffdshow. Does everything (plus much more you ever need)! :-)
