I've always had issues with every single codec out there except for the intervideo one that came with my HVR-1600. HD was good, but still had occasional issues.
So I was poking around in my registry today and found the IviSDK4Hauppauge registry entry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE branch. Under that is VideoDec. In there is an entry for DXVA that I guess defaults to 0 (that's what mine was set at). So I figure what can it hurt to change it to a 1?
Nothing bad at all! As a matter of fact, I'm getting full hardware accel across the board with my Radeon X1650pro. the avivo stuff works, and in hd I'm only using 5% CPU on an ATSC 1080i broadcast.
Sos now I have 7% or under 1080p with WMV and MPEG2, 10-12% on 720p h.264, and 10-20% on 1080p h.264. That damn bird scene is just the death of me though. I think I need a quad core. ugh. though my video card doesn't do 1080 h.264 accel, supposedly.
Just had to let everyone know. If you've got a hauppauge card, and are having any issues, this little tweak may do you in well.
