Some people have had real problems playing video with vnc installed, so I wouldnt discount that as a possibility.

The database cleanup it does existing the config app can take a while, particularly if you've got lots of channels and/or lots of days of listings, or slow or fragmented disk.

Update:

I have been trying lots of different things to get my cpu load to drop. Whenever I open pcvrx2 my cpu load jumps to 100% automatically, even before I watch any video.

I made a graph with graphedit while watching live preview mode tv. On pcrvrx2 my cpu load is at 100%, but when I run the video using the saved graph, my load averages 20-30%... I'm not sure how to tackle this one, really... any ideas, sub?

Its normal to get high CPU for a short period of time after starting the application. When the application starts it loads the tv listings in the background, which produces high CPU. How long this takes depends on a few things like number of channels, number of days of listings, and the speed of the machine. For most people it only takes a few seconds, but some people have said it takes a couple of minues on their machine.
