Ok i have a strange problem BUT its not GBPVR related but i thought this might be a good place to ask. This also occurs in the SageTV i downloaded 21 day trial so i think this is a windows related problem.
My system specs below:

P4 3.0 2 gig of ram.
Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 motherboard.
Geforce 6200 Vid card.
XP Pro service pack 3
Soundblaster Live soundcard
2 Hauppauge 1600 model # 1183 they come with MCE remotes which work fine in GBPVR

The problem is if i put the PC into either hibernation or "S3" standby. If i record 2 shows at same time one of the shows i record will have distorted sound. This only occurs if the PC wakes itself for the recording. If i wake the PC myself both cards work fine. Very frustrating as i dont want to have to leave the PC on always or have to wake PC before the recording.

Iam hoping there is some kind of solution.

it might be worth trying to reproduce the problem with just one tuner at a time installed to see if the problem is limited to one specific tuner (or pci slot)

it's the sound card...the drivers for those really suck bad...
you might be able to find better ones, but don't assume the latest work best...
tho personally i would get a different sound card..Smile

the drivers are responsible for proper wake initialization...so definitely a place to start..
do you have onboard sound? might wanna try that...[would prove or not if it's the sound card]

Can the sound card cause this?? I do have on board sound i just used the soundblaster live card because i had it laying around.

Right now i isolated the card which 1600 is recording bad sound when both cards are installed. If i use the card that has the sound problem by itself with only one card installed it works fine.
So i thought maybe its the PCI slot, so i just put both cards back in but swapped the slots so the identified bad 1600 is now in the PCI slot that the good 1600 card was and the good 1600 in the PCI slot that bad 1600 was in. I just finished that and now the 1600 card that was recording fine with both 1600's in PC is now the bad card. SO FROM this i figure it must be the PCI slot causing the problem. So i moved the one 1600 to another PCI slot and am trying that right now. Hopefuly this fixes it. If it does it was the PCI slot i put it in causing some kind of trouble. If it doesnt fix it i guess i will try removing the sounblaster live card and enabling the built in sound on the motherboard. I still kinda doubt the soundcard but worth a try if switching to another PCI slot doesnt work.
edit: made mistake above, it was always the same card that had bad sound. BUT that card worked perfectly if it was the only card in computer. For some reason it didnt get along with 2 cards in computer.

maybe you can try devcon.

with this utility you can 'restart' a single device. maybet his will resolve your issue.

example:

devcon restart PCI\VEN_1105^&DEV_8300

the id PCI\... of your device you can get in the device manager (details -> device instance id). note the ^ in front of &.

put this line into a file called wake.cmd in the gbpvr directory and make sure gbpvrwake.exe is running.

gbpvrwake.exe will terminate the frontend application. so start it again at the end of wake.cmd.

Well i now know what the problem was. It was one of the 1600 capture cards. I sent it back for replacement but in the mean time i got a PVR-150 card off ebay for 20 bucks and it works prefectly with the one 1600 and one pvr-150 so it must have been a bad card. I havent yet got a new 1600 to replace the one i sent back .

I said above that the problem stayed with the one PCI slot but made a mistake it was always messed up sound on only one 1600 card no matter what PCI slot it was in. Plus it only occured when the computer came out of hibernation by itself for a scheduled recording BUT it also did with SageTV i download so it wasnt GBPVR related. Kinda weird.

Just thought i would post what i found out in case someone else ever runs into a problem like this.
