Hi,

I have a little problem and wonder, if somebody has an idea how to solve it: I would like to schedule recordings via the web, but I am running GBPVR on a workstation, which is connected to the Internet through Windows-Internet-Connection-Sharing. The gbpvr-workstation gets it's private IP from another Workstation which is connected directly to the Internet. I can access the GBPVR-http-server nicecly from the computers of the home-network, and I can access the workstation which functions as a router via a dyndns-domain-name. Is there any way (e.g. through the Windows-firewall) to make the gbpvr-Webserver accessible through the dyndns-address? (Dyndns only sees the IP of the workstation functioning as router)

If you can setup port forwarding, a special port on the Internet side forwarded to a specific PC, may work for you. If you are using port 8080 then forward that port in the router to the private IP address computer, where the web server resides. Then test it using an outside computer.

This is how a hardware router would work for you if you decide to upgrade later on.

A quick search on the net turned up the following article discussing Port Forwarding and the Windows Firewall.

Thanks for the answers so far. I'm starting to realize that my problems probably result from a company firewall my router-box is behind. So no dyndns and no access from outside, I guess. :-(

Thank you anyways.

As to IM's, yes, but only for keyboard-chatting - voice and video blocked. But I'll ask whether they have an open port. I can't use port80, could I? I don't have a WebServer on the router-box, but e.g. Skype, I think, listens on port 80? I couldn't have everything on port80 forwarded to my gbpvr-box?

Thanks
