Weird Playback Issue

I am having an odd issue right now in which I think GBPVR is playing my transcoded files in .MP4 format instead of the regular recording when selecting a recording from the menu. When ever I select a recording, the menu just flashes and does nothing. On one of my MVPs when I select a recording I have to wait longer than usual then it eventually starts but the quality is bad.

I did recently enable automatic transcoding for all of my recordings in PSP format. I manually changed the setting in the config file so the orignal name is kept so not sure if that is what is causing the issue. Seems to me that the GBPVR database would point to the original recording and not the converted file.

What is weird is that happens with most records but one record (The Young and Restless) plays just fine and I see that the converted files exist for this show. Of course the wife's show works fine... Criminal Minds is an example of a show that does not play properly.

Any ideas? Logs are attached.

You are definitely playing the MP4 files. If you look in your pvrx2exe.log file, you can see the following:

PlaybackPositionManager.getLastPlaybackPosition(J:\DVR\Recordings\The Young and the Restless\The Young and the Restless_20081120_12301330.mpg)

So Y&R is playing the mpg file but...

PlaybackPositionManager.getLastPlaybackPosition(J:\DVR\Recordings\CSI NY\CSI NY_20081119_22002300.mp4)

PlaybackPositionManager.getLastPlaybackPosition(J:\DVR\Recordings\Criminal Minds\Criminal Minds_20081119_21002200.mp4)

PlaybackPositionManager.getLastPlaybackPosition(J:\DVR\Recordings\House\House_20081119_21002200.mp4)

If you look, all are MP4 files. So you are definitely playing the transcoded file...

When you trascode, have you set that up on the 'processing' tab in the config utility?
Have turned on the checkbox 'Update Database to point to the converted file'? That might be your problem.

Darn it... That was exactly the problem. I don't remember checking the box but who knows. Thanks for helping me out.

So now how can I go back into the database to change the pointers to point to the correct files?

if you know sql you cdould use sqllite.

I would just export the recordings on the plugins tab in config, and change the extension of the mp4 recordings to mpg in the recording-dump.xml and then re-import it (after removing the mp4 files, so they are no longer listed as recordings)
