Guys,

Some quick questions about GBPVR. I want to setup a OTA HD box in my office not connected to my living room. I have cat5 in the walls, so no problem with network. Running a Linksys WRT110

My question is can I setup this box which is an vista HP a6130n, 3GB ram 400gm HD with HVR 1600 and GeForce 6150 running GBPVR. Popcorn Hour A-100 playback in my livingroom to watch DVD's ripped to HTPC and the Netflix now plugin?

Does the PCH 100 run flawless? Does it require alot of tweaking? I know Greenbutton.com is having some issues with Media Extenders playing netflix pluggin on MCE. Does GBPVR have that same issue with extenders such as PCH?

Will the GEforce 6150 be an issue is I were to purchase another PCH unit for my bedroom? Should I upgrade my video card to Asus 4350?

Let me know your thoughts, please elaborate on your responses. Trying to put all of this together for a one shot purchase turn key
thanks
Aj

I dont think the netflix plugin works on the PCH at this stage. Last I heard it needs Syabas to implement support for the specific DRM that netflix use.

If you aren't planning to use your PC to actually run a GBPVR front end, the 6150 should be ok, you just need enough power to install.

For installation, it probably will take you an hour to install GBPVR and the PCH extension, more or less, depending on your knowledge of Windows file shares. Once it is installed I wouldn't say it is flawless, but it certainly is stable enough for a wife to accept and I wouldn't hesitate to use it with guests (I can't say that for all tech).

Depending on QAM/ATSC in your area, count a bit time configuring the HVR 1600 with scanning and mapping channels, and setting up an EPG. It's easy when you know what you are doing but it is not exactly intuitive.

I hope I'm wrong but I wouldn't count on Netflix being available through GBPVR. Not only is there the DRM issue, whurlston will no doubt have to deal with delivering Silverlight content to the PCH which could be a feat in itself. The PCH does have some kind of UPnP interface through Playon but I'd bet it won't last in its current form without DRM either. If it was me, (I'm not American so we can't get Netflix anyway), I'd probably get a Roku player and keep my PCH, or maybe investigate the xbox 360 options. None of the current media extenders can match the PCH for media playing capabilities, and are tied to MS so I personally ignore them.
