I'm having a problem where any text being displayed on my TV is very hard to reaad, it seems like it is out of focus, or pixalated or something. Does anyone have this problem, or know of a solution?

I read the thread on changing the size and alignment of the display, but my video quality is good and I didn't want to mess with that.

Thanks

Some of the skins on http://gbpvr.bladerhq.com use larger fonts and may be easier for you on your TV.

I am new to this MPV device (arrived in the mail yesterday) and have been exploring this excellent software for it for the past two days. The Hauppauge software leaves a lot to be desired. Initially I had a problem with the screen size and found where to make changes to fix that. I am still having problems with pictures having too much red and being a bit glaring but have temporarily adjusted that on the TV set. Are there any adjustments for brightness, color, and satuaration levels in this software that controls the MVP?

As to this issue on the fonts, I would like to try the different TV Guide skins mentioned but have been unable to determine where they are. If you change the skins to some of those at http://gbpvr.bladerhq.com does it just change the main page or does it also affect the TV Guide (this is where I would like to enlarge the fonts). Were do I find the TV Skins mentioned by tipstir (I don't see them at this sight - or maybe I just don't know where to look)?

I was looking at the revisions in the change.log and noticed that verson .20 had a comment about changing the number of lines in the TV Guide to make it more readable -

(2004-8-20 v0.20
- Added the ability to change the number of rows shown in the TV Guide. The can be used to make it more readible for those that need it.

However, I don't see how this is done. Where is this change made and does it make the fonts larger of just cut off a row. It would be a plus to reduce the number of hour columns and lines to make the size of the font display larger and clearer. Possibly in a bolder font would also help if this can be changed.

Any clues that you can pass along to this new user would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There are no setting that allow you to change these aspects of playback on the MVP. I've personally havn't found I needed any as the picture on mine is great. That said, there has been discussion in one of the other threads in recent days that a problem with some models of MVP that can cause a bad picture. Have a read, it may be related.

There are some settings in direct.ini that allow you to change these settings for recording, which will ultimately flow through to the MVP when you play these recordings. Theses settings weren't really intended to be changed by the end user, but are there if you absolutely need to.

Tipstir should be able to give you some feedback on applying his modifications to the TV guides. It probably involves downloading his updates and placing the files in the "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\skin\blue\tv guide" directory.

If you look in "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\skin\blue\tv guide\skin.xml" you'll see some settings to change the number of rows and the row height. Change these and the font, and things should be more readible.

You cant change the number hours shown - its always 2hrs.

Some of the skins at http://gbpvr.bladerhq.com come with these settings pre-modified for your viewing pleasure.

Greatly appreciate the response. I made multiple changes in the in the skin.xml file increasing the size of some fonts, changing some from the default to the Tahoma font. I also found the lines to reduce the number of rows and change the row height and made changes there. The final result is much more readable. I will try out the other skins when I find them but am now quite happy with this one...

Thanks a lot for the help. I will keep on reading the Forums for more clues on how this software works.

I increased all the fonts by 5 points, and decreased the number of channels in the TV Guide to 5 and everything looks much better.

Thanks guys!
