Hi,

I record a lot with susbtitles as I am learning the language of this country. I have had an annoying problem ever since I started using GBPVR and that is that sometimes the TV card makes a mistake with the subtitles and instead of having 2 lines of text it might put 3 or 4 or 10 lines of other text.

The other text might be a list of the actors/characters in the tv show or whatever. They are out of place and should not be there (too bad). I am using a PVR150. When I play the file on the Computer and on the MVP the subtitles stop working when this point is reached.

I can manually clean up the subtitles before I play the file but I would like to know if there is anyway of getting GBPVR to battle through the bad subtitle and continue with the next one without stopping? Just pick up the next time code?

Thanks

Matthew

I'm not quite sure what you're saying the problem is. Are you using GB-PVR to record teletext subtitles, and its cocking it up the recording of the subtitles? or have you got the subtitle files from somewhere else and GB-PVR failing during playback if the subtitle files got some extra garbage lines in it?

Sub,

Thanks for getting back to me. Sorry about not being clear.

GB-PVR records the subtitles. But I am guessing that it is the PVR150 which is stuffing them up. I will run some more tests on this. Nearly everything I record has subtitles but I am still new to this and doing alot of playing around - now it is time to focus on Subtitles.

Anyway when GB-PVR plays the recording at some later stage it cant play past these "corrupt" lines - both on the computer and the MVP.

Thats what I was wishing it could do. I dont care if it displays rubbish for that 1 line but i wish it would continue playing/displaying the next one but does not Sad

The source of the corruption is 1 part of the problem but I am trying to focus on part 2 which is playing through or past the corruption.

I will look at getting a good clean set of logs ready and post them here with accurate timings if you want?

Hope that was clearer.

Regards

Can you zip and attach one of the broken SRT files so I can take a look?

Sub,

Thanks for helping me. I have attached the first 50 rows of the SRT file to save space. ZIP was playing up.

The bad row is row 17. It is a description of a movie which will be showing 30 mins after the end of the TV show I was recording. It looks like the PVR150 grabbed say page 340 instead of page 399 for the TTV for that 1 moment.

What I would like GB-PVR to do is ignore row 17 or just show 2 of the lines of the rubbish and continue displaying the subtitles instead of stopping. The show continues fine but the subtitles stop Sad

Also these characters are valid in Denmark - å æ ø ä ö.

Thanks Matthew

Please try the attached patch. This is a recording fix rather than a playback fix, so files that are already broken will still have problems, but hopefully it wont record any more of these broken files.

thanks for the personal attention. That has been re-registered. I will now start recording stuff. I go away for 2 weeks holiday but I promise after that I will reply with my findings to this thread.

Sub,

Here is the first recording after my 2 week holiday in Australia.

I recorded an english tv series called "Spooks". In Denmark the audio is not dubbed. The subtitles in Danish are printed onto the Video that is transmitted.

IE no TEXT TV subtitles. However there were some recorded - it is very hard to see what they might relate to. Certainly not this show. Also I am not sure if I had a normal TV running with Text TV that these would have been shown on it. I am still guessing that the PVR150 throws a spastic every now and then. more recordings and results to come.

The text below in 1 and 2 might be a TV synopsis given the language used but I cant be sure... it could also be a voice over guy.

Text 3 - looks like the program schedule where the Channel says "good night at 1:10am"

Thanks Matthew

Sub, No worries. Thanks for your help through this anyway. If I work something else out I will let you know.

Maybe you can in some future version modify the way it plays these files so that it does not crash out when it comes accross something it does not know what to do with...like I wrote in the first post?
