Hello everybody out there,

I'm just curious why people are paying so much for these things on ebay. They are consistantly going used for $20 or so above the price from NMT/Syabas and more for new ones. The only thing I can think of is that these people know they will get these quicker.

The first thing besides the price I think of is the warranty. I would think the piece of mind gained by buying from the manufacturer would outweigh the "have it now" deal. Am I wrong in assuming a used one or one from a third party would not have a warranty?

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger but want to order directly from Syabas. I wouldn't mind a couple of weeks. I saw someone over on the NMT forums mention this time frame.

Cheers everyone

Well, I'll answer my own question since I've already made a decision and nobody else apparently gives a crap.

Yes, it takes a while to get one directly. Looks like at least two weeks unless you hit the upcoming Chinese new year. They ship out in batches and they update the NMT forum with each batch's info..

I take it this is the reason for the ebay ones going for so much. Just saw one end today, a110 for $285 shipped, wow.

You can buy them from a third party and still have warranty support if you get the original invoice copy or google order number from the original purchaser. They want a link to the original sale.

Thanks to all the PCH purchasers out there that were willing to share their experience. [/sarcasm]

All the above info is on both the sale site and the NMT forum. Doesn't take much finding out.
I didn't add anything because I got mine early last year and the timings will have changed.
ISTR mine only took a couple of weeks to arrive. UK ebay prices have dropped now that people know you don't have to wait months for one.
I'm also in Europe, so it was a real pain to have to return the thing to the US for repair. Also shipping to Europe is $45

I thought it was a rhetorical question, you answered yourself pretty well in the first post. Being in Canada, like martin123, we have high shipping costs (and a lousy dollar) to consider. I probably could get it cheaper via ebay if a vendor shipped it USPS if I got a good price. Hopefully the hardware will turn out to be as reliable as the MVP and over time we can start getting these at true "used" prices in our own countries as new generations of machines come out.

ApexHack, I'm not sure what the numbers are but I'm guessing the number of us with Popcorn Hours are still pretty small compared to the bulk of gbpvr users, and most people like me have no idea why the EBay price would be so inflated.
