Hauppauge Remote w/ different DVB-S card

I have a cheap hauppauge wintv card with remote that I am not currently using - my PVR system is using a Twinhan 1020A dvb-s card. Can I put the hauppauge card in and use it only for the remote control functionality for GBPVR?

I would say yes, just install the card driver and ir.exe then don;t bother to add it as a tuner in the config app.

remember to click on fix 45-button remote in config and then restart ir.exe. This adds a [gbpvr] section to the end of c:\windows\irremote.ini.

TIP: you might also want to edit irremote.ini in notepad and map F7 to the PREVCHAN button as this button serves no real purpose.
