I've made this sticky (closed) thread to post useful information about problems that may arise, or to get useful tips out there. I'll add more information to this thread as we start to get feedback from this new release. If anyone has info they feel should be included here, please PM me.

Recording service crashing (old, but still relevent)
NOD32, Panda Antivirus, WebRunner and Net Limiter (and some other software) are known to be incompatible with .NET 2.0 Remoting, which is used by GB-PVR. If any of these apps are installed on your machine, they will cause the Recording Service crash, so they may need to be uninstalled before installing this update. Its possible you may just be able to set an exclusion of the GBPVRRecordingService.exe process - but I'm not sure if this is possible with all these apps.

To help you identify if you have this problem, when the recording service crashes, the following message is at the end of the GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log file:

Code:
9/4/2006 3:02:39 PM.625 ERROR [7] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION:: [b]System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory[/b]. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
at System.Net.UnsafeNclNativeMethods.OSSOCK.WSAGetOverlappedResult(SafeCloseSocket socketHandle, IntPtr overlapped, UInt32& bytesTransferred, Boolean wait, IntPtr ignored)
at [b]System.Net.Sockets.BaseOverlappedAsyncResult[/b].Compl etionPortCallback(UInt32 errorCode, UInt32 numBytes, NativeOverlapped* nativeOverlapped)
at System.Threading._IOCompletionCallback.PerformIOCo mpletionCallback(UInt32 errorCode, UInt32 numBytes, NativeOverlapped* pOVERLAP)

UPDATE: Microsoft now has a hot fix available for this common incompatibility between firewall software and the .NET 2.0 Remoting. You can read about here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923028/en-us and download the hotfix from http://www.gbpvr.com/Hotfix_Net2_KB923028.zip

Choice of MVP dongle.bin on Vista (old, but still relevent)
This release includes the Hauppauge 1.1.47 dongle.bin, which will work well for Windows XP and Windows 2000 users, but unfortunately has issues with Vista. Hauppauge are currently investigating these issues. While Hauppauge tries to sort this out, the best option for Vista users is to use the mvpmc dongle from: http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand/donglex2a.zip

Download this file and extract the file to the "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\dongle" directory, then briefly remove the power from the MVP to force it to reinitialise itself.

Its recommended that anyone using digital capture devices with multi-record enabled should install this patch: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=11

Missing audio on HD-PVR recording playback
Some HD-PVR users, on the original firmware producing AAC audio, have reported getting no audio during playback of their recordings. A patch to resolve it can be found here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=16

EDIT: patch #7 below contains a newer version of this file, so probably best to install that instead

Running GB-PVR on Vista TV Pack, or Windows7
I'm fairly sure it only affected ATSC or QAM users, but I've updated GB-PVR for compatibility with running on Vista TV Pack or Windows7. A patch can be found here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...tcount=111

Updated: GBPVRTSReader.ax/GBPVRTSMon.ax/PsiParser.ax
These three patches correct some issues with a previous set of these files posted to the survival guide, and should resolve some scanning issues and crashes.

Improved timeline during playback of .ts files
An updated version of the 'GB-PVR TS Reader' can be found here: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=31. It resolves an issue that some users had reported with incorrect timeline information being reported during playback, and problems skipping during playback.
