I have converted a DVD that just would not play in GBPVR to avi so that I could play it. It's not being deinterlaced upon playback, however. Is it possible to have the file deinterlaced when played, and, if so, where is the setting?

Or, must it be deinterlaced in the conversion, which I obviously did not do?

There is no GB-PVR settings for this. If anywhere it'd be some setting in the decoders you're using for that avi.

Sorry to be dense, but do you mean that there's no possibility to deinterlace on playback (like for mpeg2) and that it must be done in the transcoding to avi process? Thanks.

I've never seen the problem you describe, but I'm guessing the deinterlacing is usually done by the decoder, delivering progressive frames to the render.

This was originally a made for TV movie and must be deinterlaced somewhere along the way - either in the transcoding or the playback.

What decoder? I have ffdshow set as decoder for mpeg-2 files, but I don't see a setting for avi files. Where do you set the decoder for avi files?

GB-PVR just askes directshow to play avi files. The decoders it uses is decided by directshow. Some of those decoders, like ffdshow, provide Start menu shortcuts to do configuration of those decoder settings. ffdshow has settings controlling deinterlacing etc.

What video codec is the AVI? You need to update ffdshow to be the designated decoder for that codec. You can then enable deinterlacing within ffdshow.
