Hi,

I have tried several times to install GBPVR now and allways get the same results so presumably I am doing something wrong...

I have a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-TD dual USB stick configured for dual tuners.
When I try to tune each tuner only finds half the channels, the other tuner finds the other half.

If I try to run PVRX2 I get a window appear with nothing in it., the background shows through.

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Simon

It might be signal related. Does it help if you temporarily use the Hauppauge Diversity tool to set it into single tuner mode.

This is usually a sign your video card isnt up to the task. What video card do you have? Some old nvidia mx card owners managed to get past this by installing updated nvidia drivers.

Hi, Thanks for the reply...

I have tested both tuners using the ScanChannelsBDA application, WinTV (Hauppauge) and the Cyberlink TV Test Kit and they all seem to work reliably.
After several retunes both tuners are showing all channels now, not sure why it wasn't!

I have an IBM ThinkCentre 3Ghz which has onboard Intel 82865G Graphics controller. I have not had any problems with any other applications, they all show TV without problems. I have installed the latest drivers from Intel.

Thanks

Its not directly TV related, but rather that GB-PVR creates some large textures for displaying the user interface, which your video card mustnt be liking. You pretty much dont have any options other than looking for different video drivers or maybe trying a lower video resolution.

If you can post your pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log, I can confirm if that is the case.

I have just tried a lower resolution and it works. However on my widescreen monitor I use 1680x1050 the next size down is for the hard of hearing!

I will try and up the graphics aperture and see if that fixes it.

Is there a way to tell GB-PVR to not use large textures? I'm not bothered by flashy graphics as I use the PC to mainly record TV, not to stare at a flashy interface?

Thanks

You could try the editing the <InternalRenderResolution> setting in config.xml, and set it to something like "1280x720", but your text quality wont be as nice as if you were rendering to the native resolution.

Changing the <InternalRenderResolution> doesn't appear to make any difference.
I even tried 1024x768 and it would not work.

Thanks

Sorry, I'm not really sure there is anything you can do then, other than running at a lower resolution.

I can change the resolution on the few occasions I want to watch TV, assuming I can get GBPVR to record reliably via DigiGuide...

I saw something on one of these pages about some command line options for setting it to record but I can't find it now...

off to seearch again...

Thanks for your help

Just a quick update in case it helps someone else...

Changing resolution down to 1440x900 allows PVRX2 to run. It would be nice to have 1680x1050 in the future though as the screen quality is better.

I have imported the EPG data from DigiGuide via the XMLTV interface nut then removed the EPG plugin as I don't need it, DigiGuide is sitting in the tray anyway.

I had a bit of trouble scanning channels but found that the channel has to be live at the time you do the scan. So if you scan channels late at night, it doesn't find CBeebies etc as they are not broadcast in the evenings.

Also I had to save the channel line up without updating the "Live EPG" otherise it would fail. I could then do an update if I wanted but only after it was saved.

The Schedule.exe command line options are displayed when you run Schedule.exe from a DOS command prompt. I have successfully scheduled it directly from a DigiGuide marker without any other external programs or scripts which is nice and so far all is well.

The important parts of the DigiGuide marker are:

Code:
Marker.strProgramToRun= "D:\\GBPVR\\Schedule.exe";
Marker.strProgramToRunArguments="-channel $ChannelAssignment -start \"$Timestart(%Y-%m-%d %H:%M)\" -stop \"$TimeEnd(%Y-%m-%d %H:%M)\" -name \"$ProgrammeName - $SeriesNumber.$EpisodeNumber - $EpisodeName\" -pre 3 -post 3";

Hopefully this will shorten someone elses learning curve.

Thanks
Simon
