nothing new in codecs, added hi-res ipod output...and aac audio output, tho i think that was already there...they do seem faster, but this is on non-4600...[20mins for 1hr hd to sd]
gui looks same also...
no 'parental controls' this time tho..Smile

p.s. to add ati decoder to available decoders, add "ATI MPEG Video Decoder" to list of available decoders in config....
and audio decoder is "ATI MPEG Audio Decoder"
there are about 12 filters in that one file [atidvcr.dll]

I uninstalled the new drivers and CCC and then went and dug up the CD that came with the card. I installed the drivers straight from the CD and that had the ATI Decoder with it. Probably an older version but from what I understand there are a number of different ATI UVDs and they all go with a specific type of card. I'm not entirely sure it made a very big difference. It seems a little better but there are still instances where it looks pretty bad. I did that pretty late last night though so I really haven't had a lot of time to tinker with it.

Since doing this PVRX2 has been behaving strangely. It locks up and won't allow you to get out to the desktop. If you hit alt+enter it makes the sound like it's exiting but the PVRX2 interface is still there. You can't do anything with it and if you move the mouse around the screen parts of the desktop show up for a second then disappear for a second and it's also kind of choppy when moving between menu items besides all of that. Also, I had some scheduled recordings last night and none of them recorded. When I went into the folder they were supposed to record to there were a bunch of 5kb files (like two or three of them per recording) that were unplayable. One of the shows (Heroes) I watched while it was recording so live tv is working fine but for some reason recordings aren't keeping. HD playback isn't looking too sharp any more either. If it's a question of one thing working well or another I'd rather have the HD stuff look good and I can watch the SD stuff on my older PVR that handles it fine.

I just figured something got messed up when I uninstalled the previous ATI drivers so I uninstalled GBPVR and was going to do a fresh install but now I'm not sure if I should just reinstall GBPVR first and try it again or if I should reupgrade the ATI drivers first then install GBPVR. Or if it makes any difference at all. I know there's a bunch of stuff in there but any ideas on any of them would help.

I just went ahead an reinstalled GBPVR and PVRX2 is still hanging the same as it was. I'm also still not able to record anything. I just get a couple of 5kb files. Live TV still is working fine though which doesn't make much sense to me at all. I've attached my most recent logs.

I'm sorry I know I'm carrying on a conversation with myself here but in an effort to troubleshoot this I upgraded to the current video drivers so everything on my system is up to date. I still am having issues with PVRX2 locking up when trying to exit to the desktop and not being able to make a recording. All Iget are a couple of those little files.

dotnet corruption? i found this in logs..
Quote:2009-02-09 23:15:31.031 ERROR [1] Unexpected error: System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

this is usually a dotnet error...
only other thing i can think of is another program dealing with keys[remotes] is mucking up things...try killing anything else running to see if can't isolate it..
or possibly actual memory failure...

Sorry, I didn't see your post. I went ahead and uninstalled GBPVR again and downgraded back to 1.3.7 and it is testing making a recording right now. However, judging by how much my hard drive light is going crazy right now my guess is it fixed it and is recording properly. I can also verify that PVRX2 isn't locking up the way it was either because as soon as I reinstalled 1.3.7 I tried it a ton of times exiting out of the interface and back to the desktop and vice versa and it didn't lock up no matter how hard I tried to make it.

Sorry I kind of changed the issue I was dealing with. Getting recordings working though was a bit more important to me then picture quality. I can verify that downgrading to 1.3.7 did in fact fix both issues. Or at least I had one successful recording and have another set to duplicate the results in a few minutes. I'm not sure what that was all about. PVRX2 is also behaving properly now with no problems so far.

I'll have to look at the logs and see if I'm still getting that error though.

Is there a .net checker sort of like the directx checker out there? Also, how would I verify if the issue was a memory failure? Is there a way to check that too? Recordings are working now but I'm getting an occasional glitch where the screen will all of a sudden expand real big and then go back to normal. There's not a ton running on this machine to begin with so I can't think of any other process that would be messing with things.

only things i know of just reinstall dotnet or dx..they can't tel you if it's messed up or not..
glad you got it sorted tho...
i do find that a clean install works best for media playback, cuz just one bad link in the chain can hose the whole thing...

next build i'm gonna lock down the windows drive from changes and keep gbpvr on a diff drive... [so i can just re-image the cdrive if i muck it up and not change gbpvr at all]

there is a DXVAChecker that is invaluable for finding out about dxva and codecs abilities..
also helps set advanced ha settings on cards Smile

don't know what to tell ya on the zooming...sounds a bit unstable memory or vid card wise..

I ran the directx checker that was on the system and and everything was fine. Is that different then the DXVA Checker? Also, I'm stilled a little surprised that I need to keep it downgraded to an earlier version of GBPVR in order to get it to record. Maybe I'll have to wait for the next release to upgrade.
