I used to have a pretty good handle on GB-PVR, but these days I just can't win for losing. One day it works, the next day it's fucked up again. My last nerve is wearing thin, very thin.

I just spent a couple of hours trying to watch The Amazing Race and Simpsons and could not make any headway. Last night I watched American Dad and it played with only one little glitch that I put down to a broadcast problem. WTF?

It's only saving grace at the moment is that it plays xvid stuff out of the video library very well so downloaded stuff like the recent WSBK races (go Elbowz go) work well.

I'm recording OTA ATSC with the TSmux and the client is set up for file sharing. I thought this was the accepted way to do it.

What I don't understand is if TS files are played with the internal TS reader then why do changes I make to the MPEG-2 decoder section change the playback? No combination of any of those seem to do any better, one will have good video and no audio, but most just stutter horribly or freeze up completely.

I have been following the other threads and I'm hesitant to try the patch because it's a bit of a different situation.

I'm feeling pretty damn stupid at the moment. Any help getting this working would be much appreciated.

Cheers

The reality is that the client/server support was added back when everyone was using analog cards and recording .mpg files. The client/server stuff hasnt been updated or tested since then, and in those last couple of years a lot of people have have moved to digital capture cards, and recording .ts files. Given it wasnt designed or tested for this type of setup, I wouldnt be surprised if people encounter problems if they try it.

That said, with the 'file sharing' mode there is a good chance the files will play fine. If they dont, then as a first step try copying the files locally to see if play well from locally. This will help identify whether you're having .ts playback problems, or client/server problems.

I know we are not supposed to feed the trolls but If you are you still recording from three digital tuners using a pc and pch client as well as doing ASAP comskip, comcut with videoredo I feel zero sympathy. I kinda hoped you'd follow through on your threat to use MediaPortal.

Wow, thanks Martin, I'm now more sad than ever that I'm basically being told to "fuck off". Troll?, I've been a member and using the software exclusively for a long time and deserve better than that. I'm always poor or I would have contributed over the years. I used to recommend it to everyone who would listen.

Please accept my apologies for my attitude or the way I come off. I'm an emotional guy and it's only my frustration that makes me say those things. I like to be able to figure stuff out without asking so when I do ask it's like a last resort.

Oh well, looks like I fucked up once again. I have always liked GB-PVR and Sub and the community, Martin included, and I really want it to work.

FWIW I'm not doing all those things at once. I turned off postprocessing.bat so it isn't running VRD. I've been doing that selectively by hand. Some files work better with .mpeg output and some work better with .ts output. Comskip works well running with the recording, I don't see much trouble from that front. It seems there are lots of people using multiple tuners so I don't know why you're making it out to be so weird. I wouldn't think extenders would tax the server that much so again, I don't see why you're pointing it out. Only if everything was happening at once, 3 shows being recorded and both clients trying to watch something, then I could see how the HDD maybe couldn't handle it.

I was curious about this part. I was wondering if it would help to find better decoders.

Eh, now my head is spinning, you may just get your wish Martin and never see me again the way I'm feeling. Cheers, notsomuch

The decoders you select on the playback tab will be used for the playback, but they may not be your problem here. If you copy on of these problem files onto the machine, does it play any better from locally on the machine (instead of over the network)?

ApexHack, sorry that was just a little experiment to see how you liked a response with a bad attitude. A lot of people put effort into GBPVR and I think that with the swearing and complaining that you use in your "emotional" posts, you might forget sometimes that there are real people on the other end. My original response was going to be "Are you still using post-processing.bat ASAP, you didn't upload server logs" I hope you stick around, sub's put a lot of hours into hvr 1600/1800 support recently and things are only getting better.

Besides hacking my old Apex and Raite dvd players was my first experience with modd'ing firmware and I get a kick out of your name.
