A couple of days ago I configured my development machine to act as a client from my main pvr server for some skinning development I was doing & after I had finished I unselected client in config. Yesterday my development PC was acting oddly with small slow downs every few seconds & egg timers showing briefly every now & then also my server had a recording services crash for the first time in about a year which I thought was very odd at the time. Today when I fired up my development PC I noticed the tray icon was green & when I bought up the status window it showed the capture cards for the server which was doing a recording. I disconnected the network cable & restarted the recording service & checked the status but it just showed eight blank tuners & not the tuners I have configured for this machine. I like to be able to turn client on & off as the server is on top of a cupboard in the hallway & a bit of a pain to get at for small tweaks etc.

Its probably just a case of needing to restart GBPVRTray.exe after unselecting client mode. The config app does not restart this utility when you make changes, so it'll still be using the old settings.

I turn my development PC off at night so it has had two full shutdown - fire up's since I unselected client mode two days ago.

Try updating your config.xml to say:

Code:
<RecordingServiceLocation>tcp://127.0.0.1:7968/RecordingRemote</RecordingServiceLocation>

I tried that earlier & when I after restarting the recording service I checked the status it just showed eight blank tuners & not the tuners I have configured for this machine. This time I killed the recordingservice & GBPVRtray & after going into config & ok'ing the status shows the correct tuners.

This is just a "for your information" if you are interested followup:

Yesterday I selected client from my development PC & after I had finished what I was doing unselected client again & OK'ed out of config I then checked the status window & it correctly showed the two tuners I have configured, this morning after a cold start up it again showed the tuners on the server, something odd going on here.

Something gets set when making a client that doesn't get reset when going back to a server. I now keep two subdirectories off devnz and rename then to/from gbpvr/slave/server to get round this when experimenting. I guess it's something in config.xml, but haven't pinned it down.

I'm glad to see it's not just me having this issue. It appears to be that line sub pointed out above, last night I deleted the config.xml & replaced it with a pre-client (that I had renamed to config-preclient.xml) backup I had & today all was sweet Smile Now to make a batch file to do it automagically. I also searched all my hdd's for a copy of config.xml & nope there are no others so it's not that.
