That does sound rather nice!! How much are they?! Would be very annoying if they switched to S2 tomorrow, but since there's no sign at all of any HD channels going FTA or new FTA HD channels starting I guess it's not likely to happen for ages. That said, if 2D is short of space and the rights people realise ITV HD is accessable over the whole of Europe and C4 HD might want to go FTA (it'll have to move to 2D) maybe it could happen sooner rather than later.... Still my money is not for a good year or 2.

they were going for £40 on ebay a few weeks ago.
Don't seem to be any available anywhere atm.

Yes, £40 for all those tuners in one card for 2 years is a bargain! Smile Will have to hunt around for one myself!

Even if S2 takes off in 6 months, it would still be a useful tuner in addition to an S2 that you may have to add dvb-s and -t aren't going to disappear.

Look for item 280314862464 on ebay and see if you recognise many names when you click "purchases"

Ok, I've taken the plunge and bought a Compro VideoMate S360 as my intro to the wunnerful world of satellite TV. It arrives next week - as does the dish man.

I gather the Compro is not the easiest card to set up but it was only UKP25 so if it's a serious problem, it's not too much cash wasted. It's also easily available, unlike the other cards I've almost set my heart on - Blackgold (lots of integration but not available, finicky, expensive); Hauppauge HVR4000 (available and easier but expensive); Pinnacle Dual Sat Pro or 7010ix: both unavailable and under new management.

What I will need at some point (I gather, from a trawl of this invaluable forum) is a scan cache (never needed one before, not sure exactly what it is but could probably make a reaonable intelligent guess: it matches frequencies to channels, yes?).

If someone here could send one, that would be most gratefully received. fyi, I plan only to watch Freesat channels. Thanks all for your help.

Did you mean 360 or 350? the S350 was the one most seem to have bought.
With the current version of gbpvr then the S350 does work and scan, so you shouldn't have any problems.
