Having copied my settings for years when I reinstalled (ie backed up trhe directories and copied back after reinstalling) I finally reinstalled the new version from scratch.

It's resolved most of the wierd problems I used to get but now it's developed a nasty habit of crashing regularly, sometimes every 2 or 3 mins (like now), sometimes it stays up for hours.

No obvious error messages.

Normally restarting works fine, now and then it keeps dropping back to the main menu whenever I try to watch live TV (plays recordings OK), in this case I hae to restart the machine.

Any ideas?

Have you applied the survival patches from the survival guide (post #8)?

I hadn't but I have now, thanks.

Typically, since I posted this I've had it running for over 24 hours (for testing) with no problems at all.

Ok, installed the survival patches, seems to have resolved the problems with the programme crashing. Thanks.

I'm still getting occasional problems where it's dropping back to the menu and requires a restart of the machine.

I also seem to get machine crashes if I try to record something and watch a second channel. Not a major problem, I rarely use it to record but a minor irritant.

Reproduce the problem, then post the logs and I'll take a look.
