Cannot achieve Dolby Digital

Despite tuning in a number of hidef stations that feature AC3 audio, my surround sound interpreter only ever reports a PCM stream from GBPVR. I have successfully achieved Dolby Digital from alternative DVD software on the same PC, as well as from the same stations on my commercially-manufactured PVR. Seeking ideas...

What audio decoder are you using? FFdshow & AC3 Filter both work with GBPVR & will give you Dolby 5.1.

I have tried a number of Audio Decoders. Currently, I have it set to AC3Filter, and I have also used FFDShow in the past. Neither one, nor any other, result in anything but a PCM stream.
When I try to activate any AC3 or SPDIF filters in the output of either decoder, or allow any SPDIF to pass through, the output is silent. Some permutations continue to play sound when the input signal is 2.0; some do not.
