Hello,

i have just the question, mentioned in title. Is it possible? Do i have to configure anything on software side?
From what i understood now, the hardware set is just, that i have a CI-Slot, connected to
the digital TV-Card, in the slot plugged a CA-Module (Alphacrypt...?!) and there the smartcard
of my tv provider.

Would that be a possible way?

It is possible, I have it set up in that way with two FloppyDTV with CI. You have to tell GB-PVR that the card has a tuner when you set it up and then it decrypts the channels you have on-the-fly.

But not on all cards, check if your card/CI is supported first.

If the card is not paired to a CAM (or a STB) you can use a softcam (like Acamd) instead of a CI/CAM. That will give you more flexibility and cost less money. If you install a cardserver (like NewCS) you can install more than one capturecard and use only one smartcard to dercypt the shows. You will need a smartcardreader, Phoenix reader is a good alternative.

I run 5 capturecards in one htpc this way, and it works brilliant.

No, you could use your PC to run newcs.

Could you please specify your configuration. I am trying to setup GBPVR this way, but no success. I can make it work in Mediaportal, but not in GBPVR. Configuration is Windows 7 (32), newcs 1.65, acamd (I do not recall version.) and the latest GBPVR.

The setup is pretty much the same in gbpvr as in MediaPortal. You must have installed Mdapifilter for gbpvr, unfortunately I'v experienced that the installer batfile that comes with Mdapifilter does NOT install for gbpvr if it doed find MediaPortal, so you will have to edit the batfile to install it specifically for gbpvr. Did you set up a cardserver (like NewCS) when you made it work in MP?

Ijaja: For your info, both NewCS (the cardserver program) and Acamd (the softcam) is freeware.

If yo need more help guys, please specify exactly what the problem is. You'r welcome to ask Smile
