I had to trade in my comcast box since one of the channels wasn't tuning in anymore. Much to my dismay, when I got home, the box I was given did not have a firewire port.

I've tried the using the blaster that came with it, but recording seems to be flakier with the blaster.

Has anyone here had success w/ the blaster? Any particular settings that make it work better? or do I need to go back to the office & try to haggle for a box w/ a firewire port?

My Moto DCT-64?? box works better with the blaster than with firewire. IIRC, I just used Haupblast.exe and I think I went into the Haupp program and selected the box model off the list. Tested OK and worked thereafter. I also think I had to get the 3-digit channel number thing sorted.

I'm using Haupblast.exe & have 3 digit numbers. The reason I switched to firewire when I originally set up is because when I was using the blaster, I had problems with recordings quitting early & having to power cycle the HDPVR to get it working again.

I'm still in the PVR150 analog age, so there may be some differences with how the HD-PVR acts. I was capturing from firewire using the Graphrecorder plug-in and using the PVR150 blaster to change channels.

I originally tried with the hdpvr's blaster but had the same issues as you, I ended up using the mce bean bag blaster that I was using before. I haven't tried the blaster with the newer beta drivers that I am using because the mce blaster works and I dont feel like messing with it since it works.
