I have used the 950q with GB-PVR and the hauppauge soft encoder to record analog cable. Now I want to know if there is a way to tune to the svideo or composite inputs of the card?

Specifically, I am trying to hook my xbox up to my computer, so I can record/watch it on my monitor.

It wouldnt be useable, because of the delay between the xbox and what you see on your screen, but you can create another capture source for you 950q, but set the input source to 'composite', and the epg source set to 'none', and manually create a channel called something like 'composite'. It'll then show up has a channel like all the others.

Thank you for the advice, now I can hook my VCR too . . .

Shame about the xbox though, when I did preview mode in Virtualdub, however, I was able to see/play real time.

I *thought* that if you use a non-encoding device in live preview mode (ie, without the soft encoder), you would get essentially real time output. I've not done it, but it always seems to come up when people ask why they can get live tv with some non-supported device, but can't get recording to work.

just wanted to say this:

I have set up gbpvr + xbox, and in live tv mode, i am noticing no delay.

EDIT: when recording, it delays, but I think it is delaying only because it cant record and play live tv from the source at the same time. If there was a way to do this (or cut down the buffer time) it could be doable.

Ideas:
1) split xbox signal -> 2 tuner cards, setup each 1 as different source, use 1 for recording, 2nd for live tv.
2) route xbox signal through VHS, record to vhs while playing, cap vhs later.
