I was mildly tempted by the 50% off deal from MS (they sound desperate, don't they ;-). I am guessing, though, that there will be 'issues' (digital rights, filters, drivers, etc.) so I am leaning on staying with XP Home for GBPVR.

Can anyone think of why W7 would be a much superior platform for GBPVR, perhaps in the future? Will there be things coming that only can work in W7?

I'm not an MS fanboy but as I've tested Vista and W7 for MS the last few years (specifically the Media Center area) I think W7 is a much better OS than even XP and I love XP. That said, I've seen systems where video on XP actually looks better than on Vista/W7.
I've got 2 systems running W7 pretty much all the time. 1 with GBPVR and the other with GBPVR and Media Center and though I've had my problems, most have been fixed. Some of these have been problems in XP and Vista.
I think the prices offered are what the full version should cost....not the upgrades but they didn't ask my my opinion. I went ahead and got 1 Premium and 1 Pro. If I don't use it, there's always eBay.
