GBPVR must be pretty quick in purging it's database.

I have an overnight task that calls videoredo to cut out commercials from my recordings throughout the day. I do it overnight, b/c the all the disk I/O makes playback during processing times rather jerky.

Anyway, after the processing is done, the batch file deletes the original file & replaces it with the new one.

It seems about 2/3 of the time, this results in the recording getting purged from the database. Is there a way to make GBPVR a little more patient (some setting in config.xml or something)?

You might try this: in config.xml, set <AutoRemoveMissingRecordings> to false.

Thanks - that did the trick (at least in my test run this morning)

The tradeoff is that I can't bulk remove recordings by just deleting the folder they are in, but I can live with that.

Now I just need to find something to batch edit H.264 recordings (unless VideoReDo gets on the ball soon)

I used to keep my recordings on NAS and every now and then the NAS drive would be offline while GBPVR was up. When that happened GBPVR would helpfully wipe my entire recorded database! I had to keep that xml setting set to false, but it's easy to briefly change it back to true, and launch pvrx2. That will clean up your database and remove all the recordings you deleted.

I had a batch file that used sed (stream editor) to do that task. It changed that setting false->true, launched pvrx2, then set it back when pvrx2 exited. It's easy enough to do manually, however.

No dice - overnight two shows got purged from GBPVR's database - even with the AutoRemoveMissingRecordings flag set to false.

Oddly enought, the logs show AutoRemoveMissingRecordings set to true, even though it's "false" in config.xml

Attached logs.z7 also contains a copy of my config.xml file.

UPDATE: I figured it out - apparently I had another copy of config.xml in my system32 directory (not sure how it got there) GBPVR must have been reading that one instead. I deleted it & the setting appears to be correct.

This also explains why I had trouble collecting information for Martin when I couldn't get the AutoStartMVPServers set to 1 a while back.

When I read this, I immediately thought you had another copy of config.xml elsewhere. I've seen that before. I'd love to know how that happens since it's not something you are likely to do intentionally.
