yep....sure as crap you're right.....can't get my stream outside of my network...that is just really weird......well....for now I guess its back to .8.6i until they get this issue fixed.

1.x was the first of the new interface to have working H264 transcoding/streaming that worked.....it worked in the 8.x and lower versions and then stopped when they got to the 9.x series.

Ok...got some feedback from the VLC guys......give this patch a try....seems to work for me.

You should upgrade vlc on your gbpvr host to 1.0.1.

Let me know your results.

Not much luck. I installed VLC 1.0.1 and your new appcode module and I can connect, but my mpeg-2 (VOB) videos are all broken up. I did try an avi (xvid) video which worked OK.

Thanks

edit: both work fine with 0.86f

The main thing here was not being able to stream at all outside of the network....this patch fixed that issue.

My guess is some transcoding will now be better/same/added for some recording formats and may be poorer for other formats....seems to be the theme with the VLC developers over the last year or so.

My recordings are HD TS files that I can now transcode (with 1.0.1) to H264 at .25 ratio of original with a hd-2k bitrate and they look fine internally and externally. This also works with .86i but the stream does not have near the quality provided by 1.0.1.

I have played around with the VLC settings and I can now stream successfully.

Many thanks!

edit: I have reinstalled VLC 1.0.1

Do you use the patch, that UncleJohnsBand mentioned? Currently I will stick to the old version, as I don't have any HD-recordings anyway.
