I've seen it a few times - with my HVR-1600. When I do, the only fix I've found is to completely remove power from the Hauppauge hardware during reboot. A simple restart won't solve it. I pull out the power cord for 10 seconds, although I'm not sure I need to go that far. The first time I encountered this, it was extremely frustrating to solve.

I think if the most recently installed card does not have ir, then ir does not work. This happened to me recently when I installed a 2250 (gotta update my sig Smile). What worked for me was, uninstall the card with ir (1600) in device manager. Upon system reboot, it will be reinstalled, and ir will work again.
What, me worry?

I ended up popping in the install cd (which, as a rule, with Hauppauge products I just don't do) and let it install all the drivers, etc. that it wanted - and it worked. Thanks!
