OK, I've a really weird thing going on. I can boot up and start the GBPVR recording service, and I can launch and connect my MVP, and everything works just fine. However, if I attempt to launch PVRX2 on the PC itself, the system hard locks almost immediately. I'm not certain of exactly when this behavior started, as I don't usually run the program locally. I have two MVPs and an NMT, so virtually all of my activity is done remotely.

Since the system hard locks, I'm getting absolutely nothing in any of the logs, including system logs. Since accessing everything remotely works just fine, I am guessing that it must be something with the local video rendering, but no other applications cause the system to hang. Any ideas as to what GBPVR could be calling/launching that would wack the system out so? It locks within 3 to 5 seconds of launching PVRX2, so I never get any kind of display.

I'm running GBPVR 1.3.11 on a Windows 2003 server with SP2. This worked in the past without an issue, and I haven't updated any video drivers in the recent past (I'm running an Nvidia 6200 with drivers dated May 2008). The only thing I've installed (other that GBPVR) in recent months is Microsoft security updates (at least that I can remember).

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kevin

Its got to be something to do with your video card drivers. Drivers or a hardware instability are pretty much the only things that can cause the machine to lockup. User mode apps, like GB-PVR isnt going to be the cause itself, but by virtue of using the video card's directX or VMR/EVR features, maybe triggering the problem.

Maybe check to see if there is any messages in the Windows Event Viewer.
