Settings menu change skin

While playing round getting my screen size right on my NMT I went into the setting menu & selected a different skin for comparison & nothing seemed to happen even with an NMT restart. On opening config on the server I noticed the MVP skin had changed but not the NMT skin.

Not a biggie as far as I'm concerned but I just thought I had better mention it.

This was broken in 1.3.x aswell. I was going to remove this screen altogether for 1.4, but forgot. I'll remove the Settings screen in 1.5.x.

I just noticed on the Setting screen all the OK Cancel dialogs say,

"This directory is password protected..."

Yep - someone else point this out the other day. Another good reason to remove this screen (even though I've fixed this specific problem now).

Why are you going to remove the Settings screen? There are some useful settings in there, including changing decoders, and some other default behaviors that aren't available anywhere in config.exe. For example I like the Recordings screen to always default to What's New; aside from digging through config.xml to set it by hand, Settings is the only place to set that parameter.

I'd originally had grand plans for the Settings screen, but I know now that I'm never going to get around to it. I rather just put all the settings in the config app, making it easier for me to maintain.

I did often wonder why this or that setting wasn't available in the Settings screen, while some seemingly useless settings are there - that explains it. Yes, I agree, if the Settings screen has fallen off your list, may as well get rid of it.

Actually I've been thinking of trying to write a Settings module for the CS4 Skin Plugin that would actually change various settings in Config.xml and then restart PVRX2 (pretty much what it already does for changes made to the various skin.xml files). I just need to find the time and motivation to get into it. Knowing the official Settings screen is going away makes it all the more worth doing.
