Yeah, it's typical under certain scenarios. With "multi-record" enabled, you can record all digital channels that are on the same frequency using only one tuner. If you are on cable, it's possible to have anywhere from 2 HD QAM channels on the same frequency or up to 10 or so SD QAM channels. You can also have a mixture of HD and SD on the same frequency. I can for example record CBS and all 4 of my PBS stations using only one digital tuner.

Yes. If multi record is turned on then all channels on one transponder can be recorded at once.
